As far as I know, the Werner Wicker Clinic in Bad Wildungen (Prof. Metz-Stavenhagen) is most specialised in complicated removal or renewal activities regarding scoliosis (as in your case). For more general scoliosis surgery, I would rather recommend Prof. Dr. Halm in Neustadt/Germany.
For contact information regarding Wicker Clinic etc. please look at the link list.
Kind regards and best wishes
Jenny

dear Jenny,
i visited Metz-stavenhagen one time in 1996 ,the Harrington rod
was then not broken, although i had a lot of pain...
but he refused to remove the harrington rod
when i asked him,i had irritation etc from the rod.
He wants to extend the spondylodesis from thoracal 11
till lumbar 2,where i have a kyphosis.
but i was affraid to do so.
my spondylodesis is now thoracal3 -thoracal11
i do not know what to do,
visit Metz again or try for example prof Halm in Neustad??
by the way metz-stavenhagen is not a professor
according to me.
Do you have experience with Metz or the WWK?
regards,
johan 49 yrs old

If I were you, I'd rather try Neustadt-Holstein first.
At the moment they are considered to be the leading german clinic for scoliosis surgeries and we have already heard from patients, who were send there for removal of implants.
If Bad Wildungen has more expierence in your special case, I think Dr.Halm will let you know.
Nevertheless I guess Neustadt-Holstein is nearer for you.

By the way: both are professors, Metz-Stavenhagen as well as Halm (Halm since November or December 2002).
I agree with Bzebra: Try out Prof. Halm first, he is honest and self-confident enough to recommend Metz-Stavenhagen if necessary.

dear BZebra and Jenny,
thanks for your answer,
i think i first will email Halm and ask advice.
But Metz-Stavenhagen : is he really a professor
and at which university?
And is prof.Halm also in Munster
surgeon, or does he give in Munster only colleges?
that is only 2 hours
from my city Groningen.
I thouht he is doing only back surgeries and chief
orthopeadics department werner wicker klinik.

Hi!
Regarding your questions:
Prof. Dr. Halm:
Klinikum Neustadt/Holstein (this is not an university, but a clinic), I think he used to work in Münster earlier in his career (where he did his "Habilitation" -a thesis for being a professor).
Prof. Dr. Metz-Steffenhagen:
Werner Wicker Klinik Bad Wildungen (not a university, but a clinic as well)
Just have a look at their homepages and you will get more information.
Best wishes

not a professor i think...
he is chief clinic wwk
Well, it doesnt matter,
what counts is the results of the surgeries !!!!
