Hello again
Here's an update of our progress to-date:- We went to WWK on Septenber 18th and they recommended surgery. They also said that no conservative brace treatment would ever correct her rib hump either. My daughter was very upset as she does not want surgery and it was a bit of a shock. They said that it is not urgent, within 1.5-2 years. However they also said they could make her braces prior to any operation.
This all had to be approved by they British Millitary so to cut a long story short. I received a phonecall today from a (British Military)hospital liason officer who said that they had discussed the matter with her original orthopaedic specialist (in Bielefeld) and that they would now make an appointment for her to have a brace made at an alternative place in Bielefed! This appointment is for 27th October. So, hopefully she should have a brace in November!!! February to November seems an awfully long time.
And.............. Unless we are prepared to pay the costs ourselves, there is nothing we can do! Meanwhile Im still trying to get the WWK Letter translated as I can only understand the odd word or two. It would be great to know what it actually says. Its no excuse but I Wish I learnt German at school instead of French!!!
kind regards
frances
